40+ MOMSFor more information on 40+ Moms - Older Kids, contact Ellen TersigniADOPTIVE MOMSPleasanton Mothers Club invites all adoptive moms to join a newly formed group! This is a great opportunity to meet other moms and children whose familes have been formed through domestic or international adoption! We meet on a frequent basis for Mom's Night Out. Contact Kristen Cumming if you'd like to join us.BABY-SITTING CO-OPNeed some time to yourself? Want to go shopping without the kids? How about a date with your hubby or movie with a girlfriend? The babysitting co-op may be just what you are looking for. Best of all, there is no fee and you may make some new friends (for you and your children). Contact Stephanie Watts to join. How often do I have to sit? It is up to you. To be active, you should sit at least once every other month. Choose once a month, once a week, somewhere in between. The idea is to go out whenever you'd like, and sit about the same. You do not have to sit each time you go out (hours are based on a point system). Only sit when it is convenient for you. How do I get a sitter? Sits are scheduled at monthly meetings for the following month. Members may also contact each other privately, or contact the coordinator for options. Where are the sits done? You can take your children to the sitters home, or ask her to come to yours; same for watching children. Include your own children to make sits more like playdates. Do I have to sit for the mom who sat for me? No. You are not required to sit for or use a particular person. BOOK CLUBYes, it's true. Book club is back in session. We started meeting June 2008 and have had some very interesting reads so far. We also have great selection of books picked out by members to take us through the end of 2009. We meet on the last Tuesday evening of each month. You can email Yogini Parkhi or Faith Fowler with questions. Happy Reading! BUSINESS CONNECTIONSThe purpose of the Business Connections Special Interest Group is to provide a forum for moms who want to: share business ideas and solicit feedback, obtain support getting back into the workforce, help other moms develop and evaluate business goals and possibly develop partnering opportunities, learn about how to start a business/obtain business tools, connect with other moms to network/socialize, and encourage each other’s creativity. Meetings are held on a quarterly basis. They typically include a guest speaker, a topic(s) of interest, and an open exchange of ideas between members about their personal goals and concerns. The group is open to all current PMC moms who are looking for professional inspiration, even if they do not currently have a business or are in the workforce. For more information, contact Jami Tucker.COOKING CLUBThe 12 members of our cooking club meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month at a different person's home, with the hostess choosing the theme and the attendees bringing a dish corresponding with that theme for the month. The recipes are posted on our Yahoo group for future reference for members. NATURAL MOMSSo we’re not the Birkenstock wearing, patchouli scented, granola chomping moms of the past…we’re sportin’ flip flops, camera phones and overstuffed diaper bags, just like everyone else, yet, we are a little different. We like to take a different approach to parenting than most do, a more natural approach. We trust our mothering instincts and look to nature to provide what’s best for our kids. Some of us are into all or some of these things - Cloth Diapering, Co-Sleeping, Natural Childbirth, Genital Integrity, Holistic/Naturopathic Medicine, Child Wearing, Organic cooking/shopping, Natural cleaning practices, and Breastfeeding The purpose of this group is to provide a support to mothers taking a more natural approach to parenting through social events, play dates and an online resource and support group. If it sounds like you belong in a group like this please contact me, we’d love to have you! For more information, contact Beatrice Chen or visit our Yahoo! Groups page. PERINATAL DEPRESSIONTo become a member please contact Amy Montgomery.SPANISH SPEAKING KIDSThis group is for children who speak Spanish to ensure that they have Spanish-speaking friends to play with. Our group has 17 children between the ages of 1 - 5 who regularly play together in Spanish, and our weekly playdates each bring together 5 or 6 of them. If your children are playing in Spanish, we'd love to have them join in the fun. And of course, connecting with other parents from so many different Spanish-speaking countries, is part of the fun. Send an email to Liz Kerton to join.WALKING/RUNNINGFor more information on the running and walking special interest group, please log onto www.seemommyrun.com and check out the "Mommies with Muscles" group in Pleasanton. It is free to join and you will have access to the group calendar and receive e-mails when new run/ walks are added. We offer stroller friendly and moms-only run/walks. All levels of runners/walkers are welcome. Hope you can join us! For more information, contact Erin Kvistad.

WORKING MOMSThe Working Mothers group is for those of us in the Pleasanton Mothers Club who are not only working to raise our children but also pursuing careers working from home, the office, full time or part time. Our mission is to organize social events catered towards working families on the weekends and in the evenings. We schedule 2-3 events per month including Family events (Dads too) and Moms Only events. We use this group as a forum to share the challenges, questions and joys that working moms face on a day-to-day basis. We support expectant and new mothers who are seeking encouragement as they return to the workplace. With this said, we warmly welcome anyone who is interested in joining our group. For more information, please contact Debbie Denny or Christine Baez at workingmoms@pleasantonmothersclub.org or join our Yahoo Group - pmc_workingmoms. By joining this group, you will receive updates regarding our monthly events and activities, as well as, participate in our Working Moms forum. |
